Things are happening!

Wow. I can't believe I have not posted since the show. I don't know why, but it is so hard for me to keep updating this blog. I am not a very good journal writer I guess. Anyway, I did want you to know that things are happening and we still are busier than ever. The number of women that call me each week is rising steadily and I am having so much fun. We have an ad in the City weekly newspaper right now and that has given me a very different crowd to work with "men". Boy, are they different than woman!! I get some of the weirdest requests ever. It seems like all I am saying anymore is "nope, sorry". :-) It is very interesting to say the least.

We are also advertising on 97.1 right now, which has always been our best form of advertising. They are the best people ever to work with!! If you have a business that needs advertising on the radio, give my friend Lisa a call. She is the best and the station really has been amazing to work with. Send me an email and I will give you her number.

I have been having a bunch of great shoots lately. I think one of my most photogenic clients ever was here this weekend. I can't wait to post a few of her pictures. She is beautiful! I have a bunch of things going on these next few months, but I really will try and be more present here.

Thanks for following my work. I love what I do! I hope you all can see that!

Making women feel beautiful!

Well, I really should be editing pictures right now since I am behind on that. But, I have been wanting to share a story with you and I just couldn't wait any longer.

Sometimes when people hear about this type of photography they have all kinds of negative things to say about it. I am always saying that it is to make the WOMAN feel beautiful and have confidence. It is not about any other thing than that for me. Well, I had this woman come for a shoot a couple of weeks ago and her story brought me to tears. And it also made me realize that what I am doing is GOOD. I am helping woman and it makes it all worth it.

I will make the story short. :-) I always chat with the women before the shoot to see what it is they want and get to know them a little bit before the shoot. I think this makes us both more comfortable. :-) She told me that she was in the National Guard and had been to Iraq twice. Every time she would go out to deliver supplies, someone in their group would get hit by a road side bomb. (I am not sure if I am getting all of the technical terms right) :-) She never did get hurt, thank goodness. Well, six months ago she got diagnosed with cervical cancer and had to have radiation. She is now in remission. She told me that the reason she wanted to have a shoot is to make herself feel pretty again.

I am in tears even writing this. What an amazing woman! She has been through so much in her short little life (I think she is 24). I'll tell you what, she left feeling beautiful! I am so happy I was able to give her that!

One last short thing I want to share. I received an email from one of my clients telling me about how her valentines went. Here is her email:

"You wanted to know how it went and there it is! He had no idea what was coming. Friday before he got home from work I hung one of my pictures above our bed and tied a huge ribbon around it so that it draped onto the bed. When he got home from work I played it cool and was cooking dinner. He disappeared for a minute and then came in and gave me a huge kiss. Asked me what was in the room and I told him part of his Valentines gift. He said I was cheating by giving it to him early but he didn't know that I also had a coffee table book wrapped underneath the bed waiting for Valentines day. Needless to say he was shocked that I did this and was so happy I did it!..."

"Thanks Again you were so much fun to work with.
You have given me the best gift and that is self confidence."

Amazing.. just amazing! I am helping woman and it is the BEST feeling in the world!!! I hope everyone is have a fabulous LOVE filled February!! I sure am!

February 15, 2009

I can not believe that it is already the 15th of February. This month has just been flying by. We had a huge Valentine's rush. It was pretty interesting fitting in all of those appointments. But, we managed it quit well.

My husbands grandma died about a week ago. She was 99 years old. She lived a full life. She was a very fun old lady. We spent some good quality time together over Christmas and I am so glad that we did. She was really funny. She said to me that she just wanted to get into trouble, but she didn't have any friends to get in trouble with. So, I told her I could use some trouble myself and to give me a call and we could get into trouble together. She said she would take me up on that. I am not sure how much trouble a 99 year old woman and a 29 year old woman could get in to. But, it would have been fun!

Her funeral was in Idaho last Friday and so we made the trek up there with 7 out of our 8 children. It was an interesting drive. Our 2 year old threw up four times on the way there. Poor little thing.

Anyway, I have not been posting much here, because I have my new website. I have been posting new pictures on there. I will still keep this blog, but it will be more personal and not all pictures. To see examples of my work please visit my website at www.IntimatePhotographyByKristi.com.
